Fiji water

We found 1.5L bottles of Fiji for $1.79 at our neighborhood Kmart today. Gristedes sells them for $2.79. That's a savings of 36%!

We buy good bottled water just for our coffee and tea. It makes a huge difference.

Mabel wasn't sure if she'd like Fiji as much as Volvic, so I set up a blind taste test for her. I'm obsessed.

Fiji, New York City tap water, and Volvic. I'm always trying to trick people into picking tap water as their favorite.

Everything was already at room temperature and the tap water had been sitting in a pitcher for a day so it had little residual chlorine.

We were mainly interested in whether she could tell Volvic from Fiji.

She mistook Fiji for Volvic but successfully identified the tap water. I guess tap water is the big loser this week.

She found the Fiji the smoothest of the waters but couldn't decide if that was a good or bad thing. Bottom line is that we'll be buying whichever of the two we can find cheapest and easiest. But Volvic will always have a special place in our hearts.

Update 8/9/2007

I wanted to double check the $2.79 price on the Fiji water, so I stopped by Gristedes today. Unbelievable!

Volvic was the same price. Ridiculous!
