City Hall

Way back in May 2009 Mabel read this article in the Times about the Burger of the Month Club, and we set out to eat some of the top rated burgers. Well, I'm here to report that since then we've only visited one place as a result of this mission and it was back in October 2009.

We ate at City Hall which was a surprisingly tony restaurant in Tribeca. We went late on a Saturday night expecting it to be packed, Mabel even got a reservation on Open Table, but it was pretty much deserted. Suited us just fine.

They started us off with a plate of crudite. We got some oysters which were fantastic, this is a good place to get them. As for burgers, we got their City Hall Burger which, as their menu puts it, is "Pat la Freida’s special blend of short rib and brisket, served on a homemade onion bun."

Mabel deemed it "very juicy." I thought it was very good.

Overall the meal was very nice. Aside from the upholstery which reminded me of something out of a "contemporary" hotel renovation, I liked the atmosphere of the place. Our waitress seemed like a classic New York career waitress (in a good way), the ceilings were very high, and no crowd on a Saturday night.
