Ikea Paramus

Mabel got me a new camera for my birthday and Christmas and today was the first day I got to use it! It's a Panasonic GF1, and it's exactly what I've been waiting for in a digital camera ever since at least 2002 (when I got my first digital camera).

I was eager to use it so I brought it with us on our trip to Ikea today. We were looking to buy a sofabed which we've been meaning to do for a while now. We got back from Fort Lauderdale yesterday and who knows when we'll have a free weekend again. Out of the 3 Ikeas in our area only the Paramus location had the sofabed we were looking for. This is one of the oft overlooked Ikeas, many in NYC are unaware of its existence.

All I could talk about on the drive over was my camera and Swedish meatballs. The meatballs greeted us as we walked in.

We were hungry, so we started at the cafeteria. There's no escaping lines!

We both got a plate of meatballs which came with mashed potatoes (with skins) and lingonberry sauce. It was all delicious, a highlight of any Ikea trip. You can buy their meatballs frozen in their Swedish grocery store as well as the gravy mix (in powder form), but that doesn't make them any less delicious.

We also got this Swedish almond cake and apple pie. The apple pie wasn't so great. The almond cake is kind of like carrot cake except more dry and less sweet. My advice is skip dessert, stick with the meatballs. Oh, and if you pay an extra $1, you get 5 additional meatballs!

Mabel was happy with the meal.

We found our couch, but didn't end up getting it. Not sure if it would crowd our apartment.

But Mabel found a couple of soft kangaroos instead. We didn't take those home either.

All in all, a good trip. Good food, glad we saw the couch in person, picked up a lamp, and, almost forgot, bought several shallow bowls that I'd been looking for to use for Boeuf Bourguignon!
