Dave and I got a quick bite to eat at Yoshinoya before we went across the street to watch "Up in the Air." What a blast to the past! My brothers and I grew up on Yoshinoya teriyaki chicken bowls. The Yoshinoya in Times Square is the only one east of the Mississippi River.

Dave's camera makes the bowls look like gourmet dining.

I've always liked that unnaturally red pickled ginger. And the chicken bowls always seem to have at least one or two slices with crispy skins. This is both in NYC and California. I'm amazed that a fast food joint can do this.

I love Yoshinoya's chicken bowls, but then again, I have a lot of nostalgia about the place.
