Mabel's 31st birthday

All Mabel wanted for her birthday was a quiet dinner with smokey steak, grilled romaine, and white rice, and last night I was happy to oblige her.

We planned on having dinner at Joe's Shanghai with Jen and Diana today just because we haven't seen them for such a long time, and Diana had the idea to get something for Mabel. So we picked up cupcakes at Crumbs.

We surprised her with the cupcakes. When the strangers at our table saw that it was Mabel's birthday, they started singing Happy Birthday! Here's the guy who started the whole thing!

Crumbs sells individual candles, and one of the waiters magically appeared with a lighter.

It was a nice time.

After dinner, we listened to Colin Huggins play Clair de Lune in Washington Square Park.
