Car Camping in Maine - Day #2

By some totally random coincidence, Josh and Eve were in the Bar Harbor region at the same time we were. So we decided to meet up for lunch. Eve's favorite lobster pound is Thurston's - a cute place with a bright yellow exterior.

You pick your lobster

and after it is boiled in these giant vats,

you get to eat it while looking at nice views of the harbor. Eve gave me some key advice on eating lobsters, the most important of which was that there are hidden knuckles of flesh in the junction between the legs and the body. I had no idea - I must have been eating all prior lobsters somewhat carelessly - and thanks to her, I have learned to be ruthlessly systematic in ferreting out every tasty morsel from a lobster.

It was great meeting up.

Another tip from Eve - to try the Maine blueberries. They are smaller but much more flavorful than regular blueberries.

They were really tasty - I wish I could get them in New York City.

Dinner was Green Curry with Tofu. You can make anything in a cast iron skillet over a fire!
